Town Hall 9 & 10 Attack Guides
At Town Hall 9, wars start to become more challenging as the bases you will face become more advanced. However, by this time you have a fundamental understanding of effective attack strategies and are now simply honing those strategies to be effective against tougher bases. You also unlock your Archer Queen and have 20 more spaces for troops and an additional space for a spell.
In order to be most effective in war, a player at this level needs the following heroes, troops and spells at a minimum and should focus on upgrading them all to the highest level possible:

A TH9 player uses many of the same strategies as a TH8 player, but these strategies become much more effective thanks to the stronger army (larger and with higher levels). As a TH9 player unlocks witches and laval hounds and upgrades balloons, new attacks are opened up. By TH10, those strategies are the most powerful in the game with max troops, max camps max spells, etc. The use of the following strategies is dependent on the design and level of base being attacked.
Key 3 Star Strategies:
- GoLaLoon (The "Go-To" general attack for TH9 players used for even max bases where defense towers are grouped near air defenses and the CC is difficult to lure - most TH9 bases can be 3 starred with this strategy)
- Surgical GoHo (For anti-hog and anti-3 star bases with double bomb traps inaccessible to a lone hog and where GoLaLoon won't work because defensive towers do not protect air defenses and therefore can't be distracted by lava hounds)
- Dragons (For 2 starring tough TH10 and 3 starring low to mid TH9s with accessible and easier to destroy air defenses... in other words, bases designed to defend against ground attacks. This attack is also useful when heroes are upgrading or the player is not adept with "finesse" and two stage attacks involving a kill squad.)
Specialty Attacks for Specific Situations and Base Layouts:
- PentaLoon (For bases where defense towers are grouped near air defenses. In general GoLaLoon works on the same bases and is much more effective. But this version of the attack does not require the use of a kill-squad and can be effective when heroes are upgrading.)
- GoVaLo (For bases where all air defenses are in the core with the CC and town hall)
- GoHoWiWi (For weaker TH9 bases that are compact with harder to reach double bombs and do not require the precision hog deployment of a surgical attack.)
- GoWiPe / GoWiWi (A 2 star strategy used on max TH9 and non-maxed TH10 when specifically requested by a Co-leader. With the buff in Dragon strength, this attack is now almost completely pointless as there is always something better to use. It's only value is when a player doesn't have the troops for another attack.)
